Functions of office

edit

-Given the new plans to shut down the Office of Thrift Supervision, it would be nice to know what that office actually does. This article is notably uninformative as it stands. Neoprote (talk) 14:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

-Someone might want to add some history about the OTS's role in the financial collapse circa 2007-2008, specifically their being the regulatory culprit responsible for the failed portions of AIG's business which mainly brought the insurance giant down.--69.253.207.132 (talk) 09:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I hesitated to revert some edits that recently deleted material because other sources were also added. Can the editor please re-add the sourced material without deleting other sources? Short on time sorry. -Shootbamboo (talk) 21:05, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Complimentary "dice roll" comment

edit

Irrelevant to an otherwise excellent and informative article. I respect the poster's anger at Congressman Frank over a random comment made in 2003, but fail to see the direct connection to the article as a whole. I believe the poster is attempting to imply the Congressman Frank is corrupt, but that assertion is not proven by the quote nor appropriate within the bounds of the POV guidelines, nor is it the basis for the article.Noblerinthemind (talk) 22:27, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think it is relevant because it shows some people thought OTS was contributing to the stability of the banking sector. -Shootbamboo (talk) 20:26, 28 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nonsense - the quote is only tangentially related to OTS itself. If it is to be posted, it ought to be on Barney Frank's wiki page rather than here. Am removing. 96.237.232.7 (talk) 20:27, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Now posted at Barney Frank instead. -Shootbamboo (talk) 02:35, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Question about OTS buildings

edit

The NYT article linked above mentions what is to happen with OTS employees. It sounds like they will move to OCC offices, and that OTS offices will be truly "closed". I think it will be interesting, in the future, to have a section on what happens to the buildings OTS currently occupies. Might they just be renamed as OCC buildings after all? -Shootbamboo (talk) 02:33, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Lead section

edit

The lead doesn't really do a good job of explaining what this agency is for and what it does. -- œ 11:08, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The writing in this article is a mess

edit

Needs a thorough clean-up. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to give it one.184.75.103.172 (talk) 23:45, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
