This page doesn't seem to show sources although it's not marked that way. Where did this listing appear? The international Salvation Army website includes lieutenants and lieutenant-colonels in their glossary under "Ranks of officers", however, there is no separate "Lieutenant" or "Lieutenant-Colonel" listing in the About Us/Glossary. I doubt they used a pre-1973 list on their website, and their own list seems odd. I didn't know about the lieutenant class change which prompted my review. --WPaulB 03:46, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I found it and added it, plus a source. Most of this information is verbatim off a site from an official Salvation Army website. Not sure why we're duplicating what already exists, but then again, I'm new to editing. I'm still reading all the policies.--WPaulB 04:12, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That edit should have been on another page.--WPaulB 02:59, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

College for Officer Training

edit

The link to College for Officer Training of The Salvation Army redirects back to this page. I'm not sure what we're supposed to do in such circumstances, but wouldn't it be better to either create the page or leave the link red? Or am I missing something? Moved

edit

Moved this page from Officer of The Salvation Army to Officer in The Salvation Army. When you apply to become an Officer, it states that you are applying to be an "Officer in The Salvation Army". Which makes sense, because looking at the quasi-military structure of TSA, military soldiers / officers aren't OF an army, they are IN an army. --Parradudes (talk) 23:37, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Changes to rank of Lieutenant

edit

I've tracked down a new location for references 2 & 6 (should they be merged to avoid duplication?), updated the citation and removed the Permanent Dead Link template.

I'm currently trying to locate the original article for reference 8, reinstatement of Cadet-Lieutenant, as the link is to the Southern Spirit homepage. I suspect that at the time of inclusion, the relevant article was on the magazine's home page, and the editor didn't seek a permalink. I also think some of the information on the page is not accurate. I am trying to obtain a definitive list of rank definitions from The Salvation Army's International Heritage Centre, hopefully with historical timelines. (I have seen other lists on the internet in the past, but cannot now locate them) Icabelieveitmei (talk) 08:41, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
