Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Oh Yeah! (KC and the Sunshine Band album) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 11:15, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
Changes to fit personal preference
editSome of the recently made changes were correct, i.e. changes to the infobox parameters. Other changes are unhelpful. Please do not edit carefully written sections of the article to fit your personal preference. Changes should be based on policy, not what you think looks best. When they are rv by other editors, seek consensus before trying to reimplement your change. Cambial foliage❧ 17:24, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- If I can improve prose, then I do so. That is done by people all over Wikipedia, and it's allowable. If you are a native speaker of English, it should be obvious that my changes were an improvement. I don't make changes based on personal preference. I can defend every edit I make. The problem here is your ignorance. But you have options. You can ask me about the changes. You can state your case about why your way is best. But you will not have much success simply reverting edits that you dislike. I assume you haven't clicked on my name, as I requested. That page contains a lot of information distilled from the documentation and from consensus established by Wikiproject Jazz and other projects. If you are a fan of this particular album or musician, you probably shouldn't edit the article, as it seems you have tried to claim ownership of it. It's a common mistake.
Vmavanti (talk) 17:30, 22 September 2020 (UTC)- You state "If I can improve prose, then I do so." Then why did you fail so completely in this instance? I edit based on policy and style guidelines, not your user page, which I have no interest in. Reverting to status quo and trying to "claim ownership" are not the same thing. If you are unfamiliar with how to follow WP policy, you have no business editing wikipedia at all. Cambial foliage❧ 17:35, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe I mistyped something. I have a new keyboard. Can you show me where my prose was a failure? The rest of your post is, frankly, dishonest bullshit.
Vmavanti (talk) 17:50, 22 September 2020 (UTC)- Do try not to get upset. Leaving the article in this state for a start. Then trying to once again excise references to Mingus as a composer, far and away what he is most well-known for, which anyone who claims to "know something about jazz" ought to be aware of. You also appear not to understand how the predicate form can be used in English grammar. Cambial foliage❧ 18:09, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- You have not cut and pasted the terrible prose you referred to, so it's impossible for me to respond to your accusations. I certainly do mistype. Maybe you are perfect. I'm not. So you are a fan of Mingus? That might be the problem. It's hard for fans to be impartial (fan is short for fanatic). I don't know that Mingus is best known as a composer. Seems to me he is best known as a musician. Gershwin is best known as a composer. So is Cole Porter. But not Mingus. That's your opinion. You also need to refresh your memory on what a comma splice is. I recommend The Chicago Guide to Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation. Your refusal to read my user page is a mistake.
Vmavanti (talk) 18:15, 22 September 2020 (UTC)- I have no need to refresh my memory; certainly not to pander to your inability to understand the difference between a predicate and a comma splice. I assure you, I didn't "refuse" to read your user page: I never gave it any thought at all. I don't voluntarily waste my own time. Cambial foliage❧ 18:25, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

You have now started edit warring. Why have you made changes which are contrary to WP:PERSONNEL, and what do you think is the benefit of your other changes? Cambial foliage❧ 22:52, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- I am certainly not edit warring. You don't know what you talking about and you don't know what you are doing. You were hostile from the beginning. You refused several of my offers for help. You refused to even look at guidelines on my User page. You offered no support for your claim that Mingus is more famous as a composer than a musician, which is false. You refused to consider any of my suggestions or to ask why I made changes or edits. You made no attempt to engage in dialogue, to be civil or collegial. You refused to back up your claim about my "terrible prose". You refused to change your grammar error. I'm not the problem here. But I don't care. This conversation is dumb and done. Wikipedia isn't life or death to me.
Vmavanti (talk) 00:59, 23 September 2020 (UTC)- You're making things up. You do realise I and others can still read the above conversation? I guess your reference to your non-existent "offers of help" means your attempts to force your views on the article body. That's not how this site works. In future, I suggest getting to grips with the mechanics of English grammar before trying to correct imagined errors. Cambial foliage❧ 01:28, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
