Add section about the memes

edit

Please add a section on the TikTok trend, just to clear up confusion for researchers finding the memes. https://www.yahoo.com/now/why-everyone-joking-ohio-tiktok-201526627.html https://wegotthiscovered.com/social-media/ohio-bashing-is-inescapable-why-are-people-bashing-ohio-on-tiktok/ https://www.sportskeeda.com/pop-culture/what-ohio-joke-tiktok-state-gets-brutally-slammed-viral-trend https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/11/04/tiktoks-ohio-trend-has-become-the-latest-meme-on-the-platform/ https://wkfr.com/tiktok-ohio/ 204.100.235.152 (talk) 15:54, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ohio meme

edit

Should a section about the ohio meme be added here? its a popular meme right now Rainbow Galaxy POC (talk) 00:53, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Probably not, in the grand scheme of things I don't think it is notable enough to be mentioned in this article. – Treetoes023 (talk) 14:44, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I actually disagree since I see the meme almost everyday even though I'm not American. Thamska (talk) 17:17, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you can provide reliable sources for the meme, it'd be worth considering.Yobbin (talk) 03:52, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Some secondary websites (1 2 3) do show some notable coverage although I don't think that's enough to include it within this article or even a standalone article. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 16:40, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I think the meme does not need refrences as reddit, twitter and youtube should be enough of a proof Fardan bin khalid (talk) 11:52, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

We need discussion in reliable sources. Reddit, Twitter, and Youtube are not reliable sources. Valereee (talk) 22:32, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Valereee: To be fair, I have provided some secondary sources that show some outside coverage of the meme although again, I don't think it's enough to qualify for even its own standalone article. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 20:42, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I feel there should be a section for the recent ohio memes 2600:6C63:643F:3B23:A436:2D6E:340:21B3 (talk) 07:03, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but we can't. Read the above discussion that is below your discussion, and soon, you will know why they won't add the meme mention. Chiagozie Elobuike (talk) 02:21, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Superman and the Jewish golem

edit

“Cleveland residents Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created the Superman comic character in the spirit of the Jewish golem.”

So then, I looked at the Superman page, and it says Judaic elements are hard to find in their comics, and that neither Siegel nor Shuster were practicing Jews. Should this be rewritten? Fringe, Suspect The (talk) 13:41, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

One does not need to practice Judaism to be a Jew, as Judaism is an ethnoreligion (more info in Who is a Jew?). Secondly the article didn't just say that they're hard to find — before that there is a paragraph listing multiple scholars' perspectives supporting the Judaic reading, and a section saying that Siegel or Shuster neither confirmed or denied those perspectives (which is not surprising or indicative of much considering their relative obscurity after the creation of Superman and loss of the rights to him).
Actually the Superman article itself should be amended to include *this* information — "Siegel’s widow, June, in a 1996 interview with The Jewish Week said she never heard her husband deny the Jewish underpinning of Superman, who like the Jews after the Roman destruction of Jerusalem were forced to live in a strange world, keeping their true identities secret — like Clark Kent hiding behind glasses and a felt hat." Nine Inch Nails is listed twice

edit

Under Culture > Arts > Music, Nine Inch Nails is listed twice. Furthermore, I feel like the band Hawthorne Heights from Dayton, Ohio deserves a mention.

That's all. Stellarzoneproductions (talk) 11:34, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

State Anthem

edit

The version of Beautiful Ohio used in this article is never played in any meaningful setting. Rather the instrumental variation played by the Ohio State Marching Band is played quite often. I recommend a change from the waltz to the Marching Band version as seen in this YouTube video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qVcD2CAbwno 184.54.135.30 (talk) 05:29, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
