So I noticed that in the last sentence of the 'History' section, the sentence goes as follows:
"Brunei would later evolve into a joint venture owned in equal shares by the Brunei Government and the Royal Dutch/Shell group of companies."
To me, this seems to imply that what we understand today as being the sovereign state of Brunei was a joint-venture with Royal Dutch Shell? Can someone clarify this?
It seems to me that this is inaccurate, and perhaps a mistake in writing, but I am no expert on the field and am therefore asking for clarification.
