Derivation of the name
editIt seems likely that the name Oise derives from the same root as the English rivers named Ouse, see Ouse (disambiguation). The River Great Ouse article says:
- "The name Ouse is from the Celtic or pre-Celtic *Udso-s, and probably means simply "water" or slow flowing river."
