Cannstatter Volksfest?
editLiving in Stuttgart next to the Cannstatter Wasen fairgrounds, I thought that the Cannstatter Volksfest was the second largest Oktoberfest in the world. In 2006 it had 4.2 million visitors. Can somebody find out if the Hannover one really is bigger? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.180.5.76 (talk) 19:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the Canstatter Volksfest is bigger (4.2 million | Hannover 1.2 Million). But the Oktoberfest Hannover is actually named Oktoberfest, while the Cannstatter Volksfest is not, and therefore doesn't really qualify. I'd still mention it on this page though, as it is similair. (Biggest Volksfest in Hanover is the Schützenfest with 2.5 million visitors, but it's not an Oktoberfest either). Squig 12:51, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

External links
editI've removed all external links except the first one. Wikipedia is not a link repository. If some of these festivals have their own wikipage, the link can go to that page.--Fogeltje (talk) 18:55, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
The first entry in the United States section contains a link to buy tickets for the Orange County, California Okotberfest. This seems inappropriate for an encyclopedia. It appears to be the only US entry with such a link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:3E0B:BA00:C04D:7EDA:E2FA:FE5F (talk) 19:46, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
Holiday
editI think it should better not be called holiday, since it is not work-free, neither religious or something else. It's just a big event---well, beer festival nowadays. 188.174.133.203 (talk) 16:28, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

The largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany
editHi everyone, I'm confused. It's claimed: "The largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany is mostly regarded as being in Canada, in the twin cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (750,000 to 1,100,000 visitors), followed by Blumenau, Brazil with (700,000+ visitors) ... " At the same time, just a few paragraphs later we can read: "Qingdao has the largest Oktoberfest celebration in all of China with celebrations since 1991. Around 4 million have participated." Don't you think that 4,000,000 is larger than 1,100,000? Viejo Molinero (talk) 14:57, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
