Luxuriousness of the Oldsmobile Achieva

You are wrong to say that the Achieva was or is a luxury car. I have some links for you to consider.

• MSN Carpoint Carpoint says, "... the Achieva is Oldsmobile's entry-level car." and "... positions Achieva against high-volume imports like Honda Accord and Nissan Altima", neither of which are luxury cars.
• Classic Oldsmobile Site Classic Oldsmobile specifically lists Olds that are considered luxury; Achieva is not in the list, it is in the compact car list.

Compact?

There's no way a car that is longer than the BMW 5 Series E34 in overall length can be considered a compact car. The Achieva is 187.8 inches long, and the E34 is only 185.8. Remember, the 5 Series has been a mid-size car since it was born, so how is an Achieva considered a compact? Probably EPA standards, or... 166.137.191.38 (talk) 00:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

The US standards vary depending on the classifying agency. NHTSA uses vehicle weight while EPA uses combined interior and cargo volume. With a curb weight of 2,917 pounds for a 1998 4-door, the Achieva is just under NHTSA's 2,999-pound cutoff for a compact. With 102 cubic feet of interior volume for the same car, the Achieva just barely qualifies as a compact rather than a subcompact. (Compact cars have a combined interior volume of 100 to 119 cubic feet under the EPA classification scheme.) Neither agency considers overall length in classifying a car. I know but that doesn't make sense. Interior space is nothing but room. Weight is nothing but to push something. Length is what's important. The Oldsmobile Intrigue is a mid-sizer and is 195.9 inches long, but compare that to the new Chevrolet SS, which is a full-sizer and is 195.5 inches long. 166.137.191.28 (talk) 01:04, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
