Identification

http://www.tomrobinson.co.nz/genealogy/whitworthtree.html mentions two Olive Kendons, and some details which were in the draft might refer to the younger one, Olive Sylvia Kendon (1909-1999). So that may have been some confusion.

On the other hand there is the other possibility, that Olive Miriam Kendon taught at the Bethany School for a period, for example starting during WWI, until the mid-1920s, then going to the Selly Oaks Colleges as a mature student.

The reference used gives P. S. Benians as headmaster of Bethany School; while Olive's father was principal of the school. It talks about "Miss Olive" and "Miss Ella", and Ella would therefore be Olive's elder sister of that name (per the ref given above). Goudhurst College

Whatever is said officially, [1] (not RS but an eye-witness) says that the College was using Doddington Hall already during WWII. Possibly it was split-site. The remark is from Daphne Enid Cowell (born 1928) about the year she turned 16, so 1944. Earlier she was at Charnes. The locations are about 15 miles (24 km) apart.

Of course more is needed to say anything about Olive's involvement in Cheshire apart from the job in Stockport.

We don't know where she was teaching. It could have been a further bit of split-site, in a centre of population. One of the newspaper reports says she founded the school. With wartime expedients, who knows?

K. T. Blamey

It seems likely that this is the K. T. Blamey MC of the Lancashire Fusiliers with a TNA page. The given name appears to be Kendal. Not very prominent. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:33, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

=> Kendall Trelawny Blamey (1891-1960), can see ranks of 2Lt, Capt, A/Major, Major. 1939 Register shows him to be Director of Manchester workers Furn(????) Fabrics (or something like that in the scrawl).

Date of birth

@Billinghurst: The date of death 1977 for Olive Miriam Kendon (from https://www.ancestry.co.uk/genealogy/records/ellen-susan-todman-24-21rvv1z as well as the link given above) is something I can verify (date of memorial service stated in Because they asked, autobiography). I'd be grateful for a check on the date of birth 1897.

Unfortunately 1941, when it would be really interesting to know where Kendon was living, did not have a census in the UK because of wartime conditions. She may well have been out of the country (medical treatment) in 1951. Otherwise I think she would typically have been in the Kent/Sussex area. Charles Matthews (talk) 07:16, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

@Charles Matthews: Date of birth, plus other data below. They haven't released the 1921 census, you are hopeful for anything after that!!! Fortunately there is the 1939 regsiter that gives her location.
