Talk:Olivia MFSK
Olivia is not Spread Spectrum
editOlivia is not Spread-spectrum but instead uses a Multi-Tone MFSK modulation.
The spreading and Walsh encoding happen to blocks of FEC data within the modem, not to the modulation waveform itself.
A cut/pate edit from the article: For the FEC code, 64 symbols are taken to form a block. Within each block one bit out of every symbol is taken and it forms a 64-bit vector coded as a Walsh function. This way, if one symbol (tone) becomes corrupted by the noise, only one bit of every 64-bit vector becomes corrupt, thus the transmission errors are spread uniformly across the characters within a block. kf4yfd (talk) 04:28, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
BER vs. SNR
editCan someone post the bit error rate versus signal to noise ratio curve for this mode? I see all kinds of claims about what SNR Olivia can be successfully decoded at, but of course, you can detect any signal at any SNR...just depends on how big of an error rate you want to tolerate.
Broken Graphs
editThe graphs and links explaining the Olivia MFSK are broken, does anyone have the graphs for this article? Fsouto (talk) 15:29, 4 February 2010 (UTC) fernando
- I think the graphs referred in the article can be found here: http://www.dl3ayj.homepage.t-online.de/pdf/MixW-Olivia.pdf. --Intellec7 (talk) 03:41, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Most common bandwidth?
editI have to disagree, I see way more 500Hz & even 250Hz bandwidth than I have ever seen 1000Hz. Stu AF6IT```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.225.27.63 (talk) 15:47, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Olivia MFSK. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://homepage.sunrise.ch/mysunrise/jalocha/mfsk_modulation.htm
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://homepage.sunrise.ch/mysunrise/jalocha/fht_coding.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
).
