you have been bold, I have reverted, so now please justify why your edit should alter a stable article. I think it is not an improvement, and does not need repeated bare refs in the lead when the content is sourced later in the body of the sticker. Spike 'em (talk) 00:00, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Certainly, here's my justification: when I started editing the article's lead section, it did not include key information (i.e. the year of Pope's test debut). I'd be surprised if there was much disagreement as to whether this would be notable (certainly every other England player's page's lead section that I've seen gives this information), though happy to discuss that further if so. Taking it as read that that was notable, however, I took the opportunity to simply reorder a couple of pieces of information - again, this was not in a way other than most other England players' key information is provided, so not sure how that could have made the page 'worse' as you suggest.
