Paralympic medal details
editI'd love to include details about the Paralympic medals but am really struggling to find anything about them. violet/riga [talk] 21:59, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Ties and medals granted
editSo I think that if two atheletes tie for 1st, the silver is not awarded, and the next medal awarded is the bronze. Is there anyone who can clarify if that's right, with proper sourcing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.117.121.2 (talk) 22:27, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
Medal weights can't be accurate.
editThe medal weights given have a few major problems. The first being that each medal (gold, silver, bronze) has a different composition and should have a different weight, whereas only one weight is listed for each. This is per the cited source, which doesn't bother specifying. After 1912, the gold and silver should be very close, but the bronze shouldn't be the same weight at all. 1912 and prior, the article claims the gold medals were actual solid gold (except the first which topped out at silver), meaning they should weigh more than double the listed weight for the dimensions given. Even using silver or bronze for the assumed density, their total weight is much lighter than even deep engraving could account for. LordQwert (talk) 01:53, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
- I noticed this omission as well. Unfortunately, it may be that no reliable source has gone to the effort of checking the weights of each composition. The IOC itself has a thorough gallery of past medals, but that page omits the weights, perhaps due to this discrepancy. Dralwik|Have a Chat 21:27, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Notability of Olympians and Medal winners?
editJust throwing this out there for general response: Are all Olympians notable simply for being Olympians? If not would winning a medal of any kind (Gold, Silver or Bronze) make a person notable according to Wikipedia standards? SeanNovack (talk) 18:55, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
