Omar (disambiguation) → ? — Umar and Omar are two ways of writing the same name, but treated differently. Umar is on THE personality. Omar should also be. Current Omar should be moved to Omar (disambiguation) page, to which Umar (disambiguation) will be merged since Umar (disambiguation) is a stub. I have already redirected would be Omar to Umar. - Huh What the hell? This is very malformed. Why did you ever redirect this page to Umar, which is not a disambiguation page??? 184.144.170.217 (talk) 05:47, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I have corrected this request's format. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:30, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Something certainly needs sorting out here. I suggest that Umar should be the primary topic for both Omar and Umar, and that article should have a hatnote saying for other uses of Omar and Umar see Omar (disambiguation). I don't see anything wrong with the title of the dab page.--Kotniski (talk) 08:32, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Listing people named Omar or Umar - how to format primary topic
editHello Bkonrad! With regard to this, could you please point me to the guideline which says that people with the name 'Foo' belong not in the [[Foo (disambiguation)]] DAB page, but in the [[Foo (name)]] article? I've found that to be an issue on other DAB pages, where it's kind of nonsensical in my view that a DAB page with a name as its title should not point readers to the most notable people named that way. Is there a guideline on this?
As with regard to formatting the primary topic, could you please show me how to do this properly? Would the following be alright?
Omar, also spelled Umar, was the given name of Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second caliph of Islam.
Omar or Umar also may refer to:
In the closing statement of the recent move of Omar to Umar (see here), there was a suggestion to open an RM for this page for moving it to Umar (disambiguation), but given the fact that there are more people named Omar than people named Umar, perhaps it's better to keep it at Omar (disambiguation). But then this creates somewhat of a problem, because the primary topic (Umar ibn al-Khattab) is spelled with a "u" in the great majority of reliable sources. Please disambiguate me on this! ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 01:37, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
