Creating this page!

edit

Hi all,

Until now, this page has been a redirect to William Osman. Given the event's increased attendance, influence, notability, and the extensive coverage of Open Sauce by a variety of reputable sources including Business Insider, Forbes, and NBC, it felt time to substantively update this page. I have done so. Chive Cream Cheese (talk) 04:09, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Redirect

edit

Just FYI - I changed 'opensauce' to redirect here instead of to 'Open Source'. autumn (talk) 17:17, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

Great work so far @Chive Cream Cheese on getting this updated! I took the liberty to move your convention/exhibit photos down into a new gallery section, which I thought was more appropriate to display examples/individual creator projects. I kept Will's panel in the template box in the event description section, as it was more relevant there!

Side note: If you have any more pictures of the exhibitors, even if they arent professional quality, it'd be good to add them just so they give more life/fill up the page more!

Either way, great updates! ChemicalBear (talk) 18:10, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

List/Partial List of Featured/Recurring Creators

edit

Another point I think would be good would be the inclusion of a bigger/more stylized list of featured/returning creators at this year's event.

Noteably: Alan Pan, Backyard Scientist, NileRed, etc. In general, some of the bigger content creators that have been there for the past two years/have their own wiki preferably already

However that wants to get accomplished would be good, but I'll wait before overhauling that section from a paragraph into a templated list ChemicalBear (talk) 18:13, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

By all means, go right ahead if you think it'll be an improvement. I'm still fairly new to Wikipedia formatting when it comes to larger edits, so I'd appreciate the overhaul! Chive Cream Cheese (talk) 19:27, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Dclemens1971, big page contributor here

Can you explain your rationale for marking the page as an advertisement? It’s more helpful for the editors if you actually give reasonings instead of just reviewing the page, marking, then moving on!

Thanks! ChemicalBear (talk) 21:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

There are a lot of new pages to review, and really the whole article has a promotional tone versus a neutral tone. "brings together content creators, engineers, and fans of innovative technology to showcase and celebrate creativity and engineering prowess." ... "The event showcases a wide array "... "These exhibitions are designed to inspire curiosity and foster a hands-on learning experience" stand out as examples. I think the topic's notable, but the article definitely feels geared to promote the event. Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:21, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough! Will work on getting the tone changed ASAP. Thanks for the specifics. ChemicalBear (talk) 05:23, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
On review, I agree. I've gone in and changed any subjective praise. I've removed the advert tag, but you're welcome to put it back— remove the advert-speak yourself— if you still see any! Chive Cream Cheese (talk) 03:33, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sauceathon

edit

@Chive Cream Cheese! Hey.

I've already included a mini-section about Sauceathon, but if you could dig up any more reliable sources, descriptions, etc (if you have the time), that'd be great! I was trying on my end, and short of quoting the video media (which isnt great bc Internet Archive is bad at archiving the videos related to a youtube link), I was not able to definitely find much ChemicalBear (talk) 04:10, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
