DYK

edit

Btphelps, this looks like it would make a good WP:DYK. I'd be willing to take care of the nomination. One requirement for DYK is that there be at least one ref on every paragraph (after the lead), and there are a few missing. I you were to add those, it would meet the requirement and I can start the process. MB 03:26, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

MB, thanks for the offer. I'll add the refs if you want to start drafting the DYK Nom. — btphelps (talk to me) (what I've done) 04:59, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I did the nomination (below). You can add any comments you may have about the proposed hooks. Another DKY rule is that any "fact" in a hook needs an immediate inline citation. For ALT1 to be usable, there needs to be a citation after The operation remained classified until 1953. I didn't see that mentioned in the closest citation (the Congressional Record). If you can add where that came from, the hook is viable otherwise we can strike it. Everything else seems to have enough citations. Thanks. MB 02:52, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft maintenance ship
  • ... that Operation Ivory Soap created and operated a fleet of aircraft repair vessels (example pictured) to support the U.S. island-hopping strategy in the Pacific during World War II? Source: Hook is a summary the whole article, stated in ref1 for example - Congressional record and ref6 (Felknor).
    • ALT1: ... that Operation Ivory Soap, a World War II forward theatre aircraft repair unit, was not declassified until 1953? Source: Needs inline citation.
    • ALT2: ... that Operation Ivory Soap manned a fleet of aircraft repair vessels (example pictured) with 5,000 US Army Air Corp seaman? Source: Also in ref1 - Congressional record

    • Comment: ALT0 could work with or without image. ALT2 is best without image. ALT2 is an option for the quirky slot

  • Article: The article was created within the last week. More than long enough, nicely sourced. No neutrality issues.
  • Hook: The hooks are long enough, properly sourced. To me, ALT0 is the one that caught my eye the most (never knew about the island-hoping strategy)
  • The picture is on the PD. QPQ fulfilled.
Good to go.
