I cleaned up the text a bit to make it a bit more readable, such as adding a space between a word and a following hyphen and putting a space between "ill" and "health." For the sentence, "Unfortunately, the unit and plan was not put to the test in Ireland because the feared American invasion of Éire territory did not occur," I took out the "unfortunately" so it doesn't appear that the article would've supported an invasion of Eire.
