Neutrality.

edit

This article could be much improved by adding informative and neutral citations, especially from non-Singaporean or at least non-mainstream sources. At present, it is heavily dependent on Straits Times articles (about half of the citations). Nigellwh (talk) 11:02, 25 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sure, and anyone is free to add information from other reliable sources as and when they can be found. The Straits Times citations deal with the basic 'facts' of the case, at least inasmuch as it was presented to the public. It is a primary source. Also, where it presents 'facts' that have been disputed, especially by the detainees themselves, those have been highlighted. It is not the quantity of the citations from a particular source that should be of concern, but how the source has been used and quoted.
Where opinions (at the time) of Operation Spectrum are concerned, citations from contemporary non-Straits Times news outlets (Asian Wall Street Journal, Far Eastern Economic Review etc.) have been provided. There are also links to reports from human rights organisations. Those would also be primary sources.
Finally, there are various interpretations of the case cited from academics and scholarly publications.
I'm not sure what you mean by "neutral" citations from "non-mainstream" sources. According to Wikipedia guidelines (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources), the sources mentioned above are considered reliable precisely because they are 'mainstream' (at least that is what I believe you mean by mainstream). Do you mean non-mainstream such as personal memoirs? 183.90.103.191 (talk) 10:59, 26 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
