No. Definitely not. Opt-in email advertising is a fully-fledged subject in its own right, and as the years go by it will be seen to become extremely important - becauae currently no government (except that of Italy) wishes to squash unsolicited email advertising completely. As a result a whole breed of subtleties will develop in order to enable this medium to flourish. JB
- Lets hope that "opt-in" will become a prefix that does not require to be added to Email advertising. I suggest to merge opt-in email advertising into email advertising and mention the issues of the past and present. Most of the issues, especially spam have all their own articles to reference to. opt-in email advertising should then be redirected to the email marketing article. --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 15:36, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
I found this on my user page, but It belongs here I suppose.
Email Marketing and opt in to be merged, No say's Ema Brunton
These are 2 totally different subjects that need to be tackled individually as opt in emails are usually for customers already signed up and have given consent to be contacted, wheras email marketing as a whole has many avenues such as spam, follow up marketing emails, exclusive offer emails, competetions and much more.
You do not have to opt in to anything to recieve marketing emails, even the ones who do not spam.
Thanks

I disagree. opt-in is part of Email marketing or Email advertising. --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 16:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
