There are a lot of contradicting sources on the internet.
Some state that Nelson was the only recipient.
Are there sources for these other knights?
The article states "All the existing Ottoman orders could not be awarded to non-Muslims, and so Selim specially created the Order of the Crescent as a one-off for Nelson". Were there Ottoman/Turkish orders in 1799? I can't find any... The earliest was this one! Before that there were only chelengks.
