A magnificent page! and source of the Eisenhower anecdote

edit

It is allmost unbelievable isn't it? But the source is reliable. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands in a serious book. The prince was told about the rhinestones in the Order of Victory by Eisenhower himself.

(Source: Prince Bernhard in an interview with Henny Meyer,Published in " Het vliegerskruis" isbn 90-6707-347-4)

Missing Afghan medal?

edit

Medal "From the Grateful Afghan People

Any reason why the "From the Grateful Afghan People" medal ru:Медаль_«Воину-интернационалисту_от_благодарного_афганского_народа» from the 1979-1989 Afghanistan campaign is missing? I know it was technically issued by the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, but it was issued to Soviet forces and authorized for their wear. Hzoi (talk) 22:49, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

As you so clearly mention yourself, this is an Afghan medal, not a Soviet award. If we were to include all foreign awards allowed for wear on Soviet uniforms, we'd need a life time and completely lose focus on the actual theme of this article. Fdutil (talk) 23:06, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Medal awarded to Chernobyl liquidators

edit

Should this list (or the one covering Soviet badges) include the medal awarded to Chernobyl liquidators – those who helped with the extensive clean-up after the Chernobyl disaster of 1986?
One source states that this medal was established in May 1990 by the USSR State Committee on Labour and Social Issues. If this is correct, it would be an official Soviet award.
There is a picture of the medal on Wikimedia Commons, along with a badge awarded to the first liquidators:
