US Naval Academy graduation
editMy guess is since he was apparently there over a 5 year span, way longer than normal then and even now, he dropped out and went back. I can't imagine the USNA official site knowingly listing someone as a grad who really didn't graduate. — Rlevse • Talk • 04:14, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- Some also say he didn't graduate USNA and disappeared, but we know he went to dental school and moved to MO. I think several of the sources find the original Sherman book and use it as a base and don't do further research, leading to all this partial info. — Rlevse • Talk • 12:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Birthplace
editSome sources list his birthplace as Portage County, Ohio, while others (such as this) say his home was in Waukegan, Illinois. Either we're getting conflicting reports, or he moved to Illinois before he turned 12. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 04:43, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'm convinced he moved to IL as a youngster. One source specifically said that but I don't recall where it was. Also, the CMOHS also said he was born in OH and enlisted in IL. — Rlevse • Talk • 11:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
