Pumpback operation?

There is a sentence that reads, "The Afterbay provides storage for the water required by the pumpback operation to Lake Oroville. There's no wikilink on "pumpback operation", and I'm wondering if someone could explain what this means? Unschool 22:56, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
