I removed the list of specific, named electronic oscillators from this page, since they aren't ambiguous. Someone wanting to link to Colpitts oscillator would not simply type "[[oscillator]]" and expect to get the correct article. The list of oscillator types belongs at electronic oscillator, or in a separate list page. See also Category:Oscillators.--Srleffler (talk) 05:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Redirect of "oscillator"

I changed oscillator to redirect to this disambiguation page because I believe that users are much more likely to find what they are looking for on this page rather than the oscillation article, which is where the redirect used to go. I tried to describe oscillation at the top of this disambiguation page by ripping off the first sentence of the oscillation article. There is also a link to the oscillation article. I have not moved this disambiguation page to "oscillator", which I think is the standard practice, because I want other people to go through the redirect process and see if they also think that users are more likely to find what they are looking for with the current redirect. I shortened the description. Dab pages are supposed to have minimal content—just enough information for the reader to figure out which link is the one they want, and no more.--Srleffler (talk) 05:39, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
