Gallery
editAs presently laid out, I think this gallery pleasingly shows representative works of the artist, and should be left in. IMO, if anything, it should be expanded, not deleted. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:31, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- I've worked with several different configurations. Please take a look at the last couple of edits. This one is largely balanced, with a high low lower low high composition. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 14:50, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- I imagine, these [1] [2] [3] [4] are socks of mainly one single editor who nowadays is removing galleries from articles; user:Lotje. One can try asking for a CU if this goes on like this. Images should follow the image use policy. Wikipedia:Image use policy#Adding images to articles#Placement say: Images are typically interspersed individually throughout an article near the relevant text . However, the use of a gallery section may be appropriate in some Wikipedia articles if a collection of images can illustrate aspects of a subject that cannot be easily or adequately described by text or individual images. The images in the gallery collectively must have encyclopedic value and add to the reader's understanding of the subject. Here are some Featured Artricles that do have galleries, Caspar David Friedrich, The Magdalen Reading, Crucifixion and Last Judgement diptych, Early Netherlandish painting... Head VI (beware when clicking on that) Beaune Altarpiece, Portrait of Monsieur Bertin, just to mention a few. And an artist's works are typically "cannot be easily or adequately described by text or individual images". Hafspajen (talk) 15:34, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- The motivation that galleries are STUPID (edit summary); is Wikipedia:IDONTLIKEIT. That's not a reason to remove it.Hafspajen (talk) 15:33, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) As for: do not change articles you did not contribute to... what do you mean by that? People do contribute to articles everywhere. It is not prohibited to edit articles. Hafspajen (talk) 15:36, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

- User: Caravaggista WP:Own would seem to apply. You are edit warring and WP:3RR may apply. I've edited over 12,000 separate articles in the last 8+ years, and I consider myself to be one of the stewards of the Encyclopedia. So I will WP:AGF and that you just misspoke; and suggest MYOB and don't tell me where I can edit. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 15:35, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Better layout! Nicely done Hafspajen. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 17:50, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sigh, thank you. I never understood how can anyone understand ANYTHING about a painter, when not having access to the works. Hafspajen (talk) 17:53, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

While the gallery is in my opinion quite useful and striking, the added bonus is that clicking on each of the pictures takes you to a whole 'nother dimension. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 18:52, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
