Can this page be cleaned up?
editI don't have time right now but some of this text seems grammatically odd??! was it translated directly from French? Can someone try to fix it? --MBarry 05:02, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
It's still a mess. Some words are clearly wrong; some sentences make no sense. Embram (talk) 21:29, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Cleanup started
editI've done quite a bit of work on this to make the English more idiomatic. In one or two places I had to use intelligent guesswork as to the exact meaning, especially in the case of the quote from the psychiatrist, so I haven't yet removed the cleanup tag - hopefully it can be checked by someone whose French is better than mine. recent edits
editI have changed some language to make the article more encyclopedic and NPOV. I have deleted an EL to a blog and added a reference. I fixed a grammatical error and deleted an unrelated link. ResearchEditor (talk) 02:10, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
How can you be accused of pedophilia?
editIs like accusing someone of being gay or black, doesnt make any sense. Having a different sexual orientation/skin color is not a crime. 31.172.30.2 (talk) 00:05, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- People confuse pedophilia with pederasty and child molestation all the time. They don't understand that in most Western countries, having a certain feeling or desire without any action in furtherance of that feeling or desire is not a crime because no illegal activity has taken place — free societies do not criminalize thoughts or desires, only illegal acts. But it's such a highly emotional topic that many people don't care and insist that all pedophiles must be imprisoned (or even executed) just for having the perverse desire. And then there is the additional problem of confusing actual pedophilia (unnatural sexual desire for prepubescent children) with desire for or sexual activity with an underage person who is nonetheless physically sexually mature. - Embram (talk) 00:14, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
