The result of the move request was: Move. This is an unusual request in that both these Owmbys are in the same part of the same county. Disambiguation is going to be a mess no matter what we do, even if we leave them be. As such, I think Amakuru's and Crouch, Swale's suggestions are the best bet: moving this community to Owmby and adding a hat note for Owmby by Spital. Owmby, LincolnshireOwmby – While the civil parish of Owmby by Spital is simply "Owmby" the village is "Owmby-by-Spital" a hatnote to Owmby-by-Spital would be sufficient rather than the DAB with just 2 items. If not this article should be moved to Owmby, Searby like the Commons category. Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:17, 3 August 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. • Disambiguation is needed, as I don't think Owmby usually refers to this one (examples include Pevsner Architectural Guides(https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=tQqV7kdX1Y0C) and the church (Owmby Group of Parishes, http://www.owmbygroup.co.uk/parishes/owmby.html). Owmby, Searby is better, as "Lincolnshire" is still ambiguous. Peter James (talk) 21:24, 3 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, I think I agree, the "by-Spital" is not used on older sources. My suggestion was that its less of an issue with situations where there are only 2 articles, as readers seeking the other topic only have to make 1 click, if one is primary, while if there is a DAB readers seeking either have 1 click either way. However I think WP:2DABS is there to prevent us from having to pick one in unclear cases like this. I would actually say that Owmby-by-Spital probably has much more long-term significance as well as use. Villages/parishes are generally much more notable than hamlets. A case could maybe be made that "Owmby" should redirect to Owmby-by-Spital instead (and "Owmby, Lincolnshire" should follow it) with this at "Owmby, Searby". Either way this shouldn't be at "Owmby, Lincolnshire" as it appears we are only disambiguating from another topic in Lincolnshire. Crouch, Swale (talk) 09:15, 5 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment - if "disambiguation is needed", as indicated by Peter James, then the ", Lincolnshire" disambiguator doesn't help at all. Owmby-by-Spital is also in Lincolnshire, duh. So either we have to move to the rather cumbersome title of Owmby, West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, or we just go ahead and move the article as proposed, which we could probably get away with doing given that Owmby-by-Spital has its alternative name. A head scratcher, certainly.  — Amakuru (talk) 18:02, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and even worse, they are both in West Lindsey. So we're stuck with virtually no way to disambiguate them. That being the case, I support the move. Let this one be Owmby, with a hatnote to Owmby-by-Spital.  — Amakuru (talk) 18:03, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Owmby, Searby would probably be the best title if disambiguation is needed, the CP is Searby cum Owmby so we can just cut off the repetition. As pointed out the CP of Owmby-by-Spital is Owmby and that one is more notable. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:00, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
