IOA shortname issue
editHi all, I've noticed an issue with Module:Political party - because the shortname of the Independent Oxford Alliance is written (erroneously) as "Oxford Alliance", that's what it shows up as in infoboxes and other templates, which gives the misleading impression that that's a recognised contraction, when in reality it isn't - the contraction used is "IOA", both by the group themselves [1] ("The IOA constitution makes this clear") and external sources [2] ("Secretary at the IOA, he noted...") [3] (...the IOA has sought to align itself...).
Changing the shortname in the module would need an edit request, and that requires consensus, so: Do we support changing the shortname in the module, either A) to a blank field, so that "Independent Oxford Alliance" shows up in infoboxes and templates, or B) to "IOA" so that the acronym shows up? - Sure, either of those are good. IOA would be my preference. Bondegezou (talk) 20:44, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, and now removed the short name of Oxford Alliance from the module. As such, the acronym IOA should show up in most contexts unless the full name has been explicitly requested. Stortford (talk) 09:07, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! CipherRephic (talk) 18:00, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
