Where did the cool name come from? Chris 00:06, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
The answer is in the "History" section of the articleShoreranger 00:13, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Edison?
editNo question Edison was the "Wizard of Menlo Park", but what evidence is there that the Kerouac nickname had any relationship? "Wizard of Oz" is documented as his nickname because of the location, "Oz" refering to "Ozone" in this case. If there is no documenation for the Edison connection it will be removed.Shoreranger 04:24, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
The Hole
editApparently [1] only 2 of the expected bodies turned up in the Hole. Reference to 2004 article needs updating --JimWae 20:32, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Gotti
editThis is not the John Gotti article - a display of pictures of him *might* belong in his article - in this article only 2 at the most should appear --JimWae 21:06, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Ridiculous junk
editDespite more than half the article being about crime, this is not the Crime In Oz article. Crime in Oz is overemphasized - and often with text that is downright ridiculous - like the stuff about who else might (still?) be in the hole. The Son of Sam section is not particularly relevant to Oz - there is too much junk in the article - and too much overgeneralizing - and sem-glorification of Gotti.
- On Friday, February 9, 1990,
theMANY people of Ozone Park waited anxiously for the jury to reach a verdict on John Gotti's case. The Jury found him not guilty on four assault charges and two conspiracy charges. When the courtroom was cleared, the jubilant Gotti was escorted out of the courthouse through a private elevator reserved for judges. Once on the street, Gotti raised his fist in triumph for the crowds of supporters standing behind police barricades. The victory was greeted with cheers and celebratory fireworks. In Ozone Park, red and yellow balloons awaited Gotti's return. - After he later went to prison, (*when & for what have been removed by Desernio*) SOME neighborhood residents (*led by Gotti's son*) protested his incarceration. When
JohnGotti died in jail (when?),theSOME citizens of Ozone Park mourned. His funeral procession traveled through the city(Oz or NYC?). Throughout MUCH OF Ozone Park, there were flowers and remembrance for the mobster. - ---Stress the time he was not convicted, sweep by his conviction, right? and make it sound like everyone in Oz wanted him to be out of jail

I agree. This article is an embarassment. The mafia stuff has got to go - to its own article if anyone thinks it is necessary, but it has to go from here.Shoreranger 01:32, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Son of Sam
editFirst shooting in Queens was October 1976 & seriality was not yet established. Only special connection to Ozone Park was letter to police captain. Probably section does not even belong in article --JimWae 21:12, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Joseph Scopo Hit
editI belive this hit occurred in Richmond Hill - on 110 Street between 107 and 109 Avenues. I can see the mistake, since the Ozone Park line is at 109 Avenue. Candy750
According to Ganglandnews.com, it happened in front of Scopo's Ozone Park home. http://www.ganglandnews.com/column124.htm

Sorry, Goodfella, but that's where it was. Like 'Good Sicilians' we 'heard nothing', but the truth is the Leno Show didn't quite drown it out. Too bad the address on the house in the picture can't be made out. Find it and see. Bet the bullet holes are still there. You just gotta trust me on this one. Candy750
Or 'Good Neapolitans' in my case. ;-)
If you say you know, then you know. I guess I'd trust someone from the neighborhood more than I'd trust that website article.

Shahrear Kabi?
editI've never heard of such a person. Possibly a case of vandalism.
History
edit1st sentence in the History section seems incomplete ...
Two partners, Benjamin W. Hitchcock and Charles C. Denton, began carving farmland into building lots after the New York.
... ie. "after the New York" what?
Lynchmob98 21:22, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
It's suppose to be:
Two partners, Benjamin W. Hitchcock and Charles C. Denton, began carving farmland into building lots due to railroad plans.
It must have been edited and gone unnoticed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Goodfellajohnny (talk • contribs) 06:57, August 22, 2007 (UTC).
Crime
editIs this some kind of fabricated chart? 173% greater than national average robbery rate.... You're not serious,( whoever put that chart there ) i've walked through that neighborhood countless amounts of times and i've never seen/heard/ or had any feelings that someone was going to rob any one or someone was going to get robbed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.23.240.62 (talk) 04:29, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- Hell, I live here and I think the crime rate chart is ridiculous. It has to have some truth to it, as I saw it on a real estate-neighborhood profile website. --Goodfellajohnny 06:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Borders
edit@Rgse90: I'm not sure why you keep restoring the borders in the lead section of the article. It's not very legible and a map would be a better representation; plus, the borders are mentioned in a footnote as well. It is not a detail that most readers want, and judging by the looks at it, can barely even comprehend. epicgenius (talk) 20:41, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
