Good question. I don't know. It was not in my original article but I am not an expert in a field of Scandinavian mythology. It was explained me that this god has something to do with fertility and his runic symbol Ingwaz is quite similar. The connection is a bit unclear to me. If the runic symbol is really coming from the same orgin (which is possible but, in my opionion, hardly proven) - that means vulva, then the connection remains unclear anyway because coincidence is not a proof of the connection. Hi, I am the original author from cs. Nowadays, the Czech article looks quite differently and it was even split into two distinct articles.

My intention was to write an article about a symbol which is know widely (and that means everybody knows it) in Czechia and Slovakia but it usually stays unrecognized even in the neighbouring countries (with very similar culture) as Poland is. It seems to be really amazing phenomenon.

Currenty the English article is a bit confusing and it needs to be redesigned and possible rewritten. However, I feel, this interesting issue has its place under a wiki sun. The necessity of expanding and adding sources should not be a reason for deletion. The article contains a bit of private research. I don't know any scientific or popular article about this phenomenon. On the other hand, the symbol apears in several Czech art works and Wikipedia can provide at least a basic knowledge background for confused readers, movie spectators and possibly shocked visitors of Prague.

I did not intend to write anything about pornography although the symbol itself is obviously directly connected to a vulva. It is its people's (folk?, vulgar?) simple illustration. This image is considered to be too vulgar for most of the societies in Czechia. I used a Czech word "píča" (freely translated: "cunt") because it is the profanity which is usually connected with this symbol. This word was changed at cs: to a simple Symbol vulvy which means "Vulva symbol". To be honest, I have never heard to use words "Vulva symbol" in a context of this symbol but I understand that it is probably a better way how to describe this symbol.

For those, who do not see what is so special with this symbol (are you a Czech?): A vulva is usually depicted as a rounded picture, practicly never as a sharply shaped rhombus. In Czechia and Slovakia, it is usual and rounded forms are very rare. Surprisingly, this small difference makes a whole symbol "unreadable" for many other nationalities.

The appearence in movies and books can be referenced by corresponding books at Amazon and movies at IMDB. The illustrations of 16th century found in the Czech castle Pernštejn (see Symbol vulvy) were confirmed by a castellan of this castle in my personal correspondation with him (copy of his email is available on a talk page). The logo of Tři sestry rock group can be seen at cs:Tři sestry. Right now something has come into my mind: students of Charles University in Prague made a huge light performance with this symbol on a wall of one of its student dormitories a couple of years ago ([1] and an acceptance in media [2]).

Merge

Hey, why Czechs have article about cunt, and Japanese, Korean, or for example Italian peoples have no articles with their version of cunt? I proposed it for merge with cunt (as some kind of international cunts, or somewhat like that, you know). RockandDiscoFanCZ (talk) 18:56, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
