So what do they do? Bundle each DVD with DirectX7 or 8? Flashn00b 16:02, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, they use the low-level libraries provided by Sony (in the case of PS2), or Sony/NVIDIA (in the case of PS3). Anyone with any console experience knows that this is the general case for nearly all consoles. The Xbox/Xbox 360 are the only consoles that have any crossover with PC development and use a version of DirectX. 75.37.36.218 (talk) 01:35, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

the PS3 uses OpenGL ES in combination with Nvidia's CG for shading (which is similar to Microsoft's HLSL) the PS3 like the PS1/PS2/PS3/Wii/Nintendo-DSi/PSP are all fully incapable of running directx, and only use cross-platform development tools. No other console besides the xbox1/360 and the dreamcast run DirectX (all others use a variation of OpenGL) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cg_(programming_language) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Level_Shader_Language Markthemac (talk) 00:59, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
