Talk:PVC superphylum

Three or four (more) phyla in the super-phyllum?

edit

The text refers to three classes and three groups, whereas it lists four. The name PVC implies that Planctomycetes - Verrucomicrobia - Chlamydiae are constituent members. I have seen phylogenies adding Lentisphaerae to this super-phylum (e.g. Rinke et al. 2013[1]). Already the original suggestion of the PVC super-phylum[2] lists Lentisphaerae as constituent member. We need to note that this later phylum was only described in 2004[3], while the others were known for quite a while, and even their close relationship was discovered as soon as 16S RNS phylogenies were available.
