Article needs additional references
editThis article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed.--MFIreland • Talk 19:10, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- The article already has an extensive bilbiography and a maintenance tag asking for citations for the content. Adding the note on the talkpage in that form is not going to help. Is there specific content that you think needs citing as a matter of urgency? GraemeLeggett (talk) 19:18, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
- Citation needed tags added where references are required.--MFIreland • Talk 19:22, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
'Paddy Finucane Memorial Fund'
editCame across reference to this while pursuing something else in The Times Online, date 20 Aug. 1942: moneys going to a Memorial Wing in Royal Hospital, Richmond, and the RAF Benevolent Fund. Jackiespeel (talk) 19:19, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will look into this. Dapi89 (talk) 12:23, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
Caldwell ref
editCaldwell is repeatedly cited in the article, but there are no references of this name listed in the bibliography - can someone correct?--Jackyd101 (talk) 21:56, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'll sort it. Thanks. Dapi89 (talk) 08:40, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
A couple of suggestions
editG'day, nice work with this article, Dapi et al. I have a couple of suggestions while you wait for a GA reviewer: AustralianRupert (talk) 00:13, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- lead: per WP:LEAD it should be no more than four paragraphs, currently it appears to be six;
- section header: "Royal Air Force", I think maybe this should be tweaked to "Early Royal Air Force service" or something similar
- be careful of the use of dashes as opposed to hyphens, for instance 1939–42 is correct, but ground–fire isn't
- be careful of overlinking terms, the overlinking script reveals quite a few. The script can be found here.
- Anyway, good luck with taking the article further. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 00:13, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Some of the -someinfo- are distruptive to the reading so should be footnotes. MilborneOne (talk) 08:32, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
Start of WWII
editI edited this sentence:
- That month German forces invaded Poland (1 September) prompting Britain and France to declare war on Germany in defence of Poland, beginning the war in Europe.
It reads: Germany invaded Poland --> Britain & France declared war on Germany --> This began the war in Europe. Ergo, France and Britain started the war.
Now reads as follows:
- That month Germany launched its invasion of Poland (1 September) prompting Britain and France to declare war on Germany in defence of Poland on 3 September.
Please let me know if there are any concerns. K.e.coffman (talk) 18:47, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Dapi89: Yes, it does read as if Britain & France started WWII. K.e.coffman (talk) 20:37, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
