editHe's a cult hero amongst the Celtic support because of his dazzling football skills and where he comes from nothing to do with him being a catholic. his nickname is the "Derry Pele" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.17.195.16 (talk) 06:51, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Fan page
editIs this supposed to a fan page to McCourt or an encyclopedia page on the player? Theres no need to describe EVERY one of his Celtic goals. Theres no mention of every goal he's scored for his other club. Recommend altering the Celtic section slightly. --BadSynergy (talk) 16:12, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Information about Harry McCourt
editThis information is not relevant to this page. If you (IP) would like to make a page for Harry McCourt then you can do that and you caan put that information onto Harry's page. But it is not relevant to Paddy McCourt. Adam4267 (talk) 21:06, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Mentioning that his brother Harry McCourt is a former player is fine - more than welcome. Creating a mini-bio about Harry on Paddy's page is not. Oh, and will Harry meet WP:GNG and/or WP:NFOOTBALL? I doubt it to be honest. GiantSnowman 21:12, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Are Derry City not fully pro, I assumed they were. Apparently he was still playing for them in '07 [1] but I couldn't find much info about him so he probably does not meet GNG. Adam4267 (talk) 21:16, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- The League of Ireland Premier Division is not a fully professional league. GiantSnowman 21:21, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ok so creating a Harry McCourt page is probably not going to happen. Then what, if any, should be removed from this page. Adam4267 (talk) 21:38, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Its hardly a mini bio if it consists of 2 moments in his career. Both brothers won the Cup for their hometown club and played in Europe. Relevant.
Leave page way it is now. 86.43.216.119 (talk) 22:08, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- They are brothers but that doesn't mean what happened in Harry's career is relevant to Paddy McCourt's page. Adam4267 (talk) 12:54, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Mentioning his brother played for Derry City is fine. Mentioning all of his achievements/goals is not suitable. GiantSnowman 12:55, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Hardly all his achievements. Harry's career had a big influence on Paddy. 86.43.216.119 (talk) 18:12, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- What reliable sources verifies that claim? GiantSnowman 18:28, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Harry is his older brother. You're being pedantic now. 86.43.216.119 (talk) 10:10, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- No, I'm adhering to policy. GiantSnowman 12:42, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Policy? How about using common sense? You are being pedantic. 86.43.216.119 (talk) 19:15, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- You clearly don't understand how Wikipedia works. Are you willingly to give a proper argument, or are you just going to continue being disruptive. Adam4267 (talk) 15:17, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
You clearly dont understand how common sense works. You are bieng disruptive and need to stop vandalising.86.43.216.119 (talk) 16:02, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia isn't run by (your) common sense. It is run by policies. Such are WP:V and WP:WEIGHT. Your edits are violating both. The policy WP:VANDALISM to which you (wrongly) refer above is another. Adam4267 (talk) 18:06, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
And wikipedia is not run by you either. Get a life. 178.167.203.37 (talk) 19:12, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
- GiantSnowman wisely requested additional input to this discussion at the WP:FOOTY talk page. Personally, I don't see that including two sourced lines on the major achievements of one of Pat McCourt's brothers does any harm or violates WP:WEIGHT. It could be made specifically relevant to the Personal life section of this article by mentioning Pat's admiration for his brothers (source) and following that by the brief summary of Harry's achievements. Also, having had a quick look, I'd guess that if anyone with ready access to Irish newspaper sources wanted to put in the time and effort, an article could be put together on Harry McCourt to easily pass WP:GNG. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say that "McCourt's elder brother, Harry, played for Derry City and Cliftonville, and was joint top scorer in the League of Ireland during the 1991–92 season; he now serves as a director at Derry City." I don't see individual goals as worth mentioning in Paddy's article, but the top-scorer fact is worth putting in as it gives a little bit of detail without seeming out of place.--EchetusXe 12:01, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- EchetusXe's suggestion sounds perfect. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 13:35, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'd go with what EchetusXe said but leave out Cliftonville. I think he played for other teams than those two as well and listing them all wouldn't really be necessary. Apart from that I like it. Adam4267 (talk) 19:31, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
== Barnsley transfer ==
http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/article/mccourt-joins-reds-22082013-1007953.aspx I've just added that he signed for Barnsley, if someone who knows how the editor works could come in and give it a proper tidy-up, that'd be great. Career statistics and Style of play
editI have removed Career statistics and Style of play sections because they are unsourced and fail WP:V, if you would like to re-add career stats, please add a WP:RS for each club/season. JMHamo (talk) 22:28, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
