Regarding the vote for deletion

edit

Don't be discouraged that this page has been listed on the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion page - lots of great articles start out small and get listed there, but (most) wikipedians are smart and can tell an interesting subject (which this is) from nonsense (of which we have quite a bit too). I've made the page look as best I could, but I know absolutely nothing about Pakistani literature (which is why you must make an interesting article about it, to educate me). A good example of how this page might look is Irish literature. This article particularly needs to have the names of the most significant Pakistani writers, and their most important works. A few sentences about common or special themes in Pakistani writing might be good too. And don't forget poets and playwrights too. I'm looking forward to reading it. -- Finlay McWalter 00:09, 15 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Expansion needed!

edit

Here's some ideas (trying to recruit people to come here and help execute them)...

  • Section on poetry: considering the rich poetic history of Pakistan (in many languages not just Urdu) a summary of significant Pakistani poets and poetic traditions would be good. The Poetry of Pakistan article (which could benefit from non Urdu-biased writers) could contain the more specific detail about Pakistani poetry (both before and after 1947).
  • Section on Pakistani fiction and fiction writers
  • Section on Pakistani non-fiction literature (including philosophy or religious)
  • Check the with Pakistanis for accuracy of introductory paragraphs.

Pakistani literature

edit

what Pakistani literature?
This article name should be urdu literature الثاقب (WiseSabre| talk) 16:05, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

No, because:
  • Pakistan is not the only country where Urdu is or was spoken.
  • Pakistan has literature in many languages other than Urdu.
Judging by your other posts, you're probably well aware of these facts. I'm curious as to why you would say such a thing. Criticforaday 19:58, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Make a request for name change if you like, WiseSabre, but I doubt it would succeed for the reasons Criticforaday already stated.Lisa 05:21, 30 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

reply: Yeah you are right, i though it another way, Thanks الثاقب (WiseSabre| talk) 16:05, 30 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
