Photos needed
editCan someone from Chandigarh add photos of the Univ? I no longer live in Chandigarh so can't do it. Amit@Talk 14:49, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Note: {{WP India}} Project Banner with Chandigarh workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Chandigarh or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 06:04, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
To many alumni
editI removed the long list of movie stars and regional politians from the alumni list and kept only the most renowed ones. Feel free to edit if you disagree with my choices, but please keep in mind that while PU has many notable alumni, a very long list detracts from the really illustrious ones. ReluctantPhilosopher (talk) 20:41, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
just did that.. some of the fake names were there in the list gandalfthegrey 13:30, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

About Advert/Non-free Tag
editI want to state that Panjab University is a Indian Centrally-funded University and is a Government body, this article contains information for the general public, please remove ADVERT tag. --SARVPRIYE SONI, Student Of B.E CSE, Panjab University, Chandigarh 00:17, 25 June 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarvpriye (talk • contribs)
- I reviewed the article again, I guess now the advert tag is not apt for it. Please review and decide
Also I guess non-free tag should also be nominated to be removed, Lets discuss here for a day before there removal. --SARVPRIYE SONI(Wanna Talk?) 13:48, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- Advert tag: Here are just two random sentences:
- "Almost 100% placement record and strong R & D has made the UIET's presence visible on the national map."
- "UIET was set up with a vision to provide quality professional engineering education and research."
- This is as blatant advertisement as it gets. In my opinion all such sentences should be combed out of the article before the advert tag can be removed.
- non-free tag If you are saying you did a section by section search and they are all clean I don't mind if it is removed. --Muhandes (talk) 14:55, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- Removed the first line but I guess the following line is not an advertisement, It is the vision of its establishment:
- "UIET was set up with a vision to provide quality professional engineering education and research."SARVPRIYE SONI(Wanna Talk?) 15:46, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
- Vision, Mission and the such are all almost by definition promotion. We don't really care what the institute thinks about itself. Also, these were just examples. The article is full of it. --Muhandes (talk) 17:24, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
MCA Admission Procedure in PANJAB UNIVERSITY
editanyone please edit this section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Umangck (talk • contribs) 06:56, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Non-free material
editI had just a quick look at the article and the entire sections on hostels and on the history department were copy pasted from http://hostels.puchd.ac.in/ and http://history.puchd.ac.in/ respectively, in blatant violation of university copyright and without explicit permission. I have strong suspicion that much more of the article was thus created. If you know, or can recognize, such violations, please remove the material promptly. --Muhandes (talk) 18:23, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
Oldest and Top Ranked?
editThis article starts: "Panjab University (Gurmukhi: ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ) is one of the oldest and top ranked universities in the world." Sorry, no on both counts. A university founded in the late 19th century can't be "one of the oldest" (e.g., University of Bologna has been in continuous operation for just a little bit longer - since 1088 - and there are about a dozen more founded before 1300 thar have also been in continuous operation since) and suspect most people who rank universities have never even heard of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.66.32 (talk) 05:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Merge proposal - Centre for Environment and Vocational Studies, Chandigarh
editIt has been proposed that Centre for Environment and Vocational Studies, Chandigarh be merged into this article. The person who proposed the merge did not set up a discussion here, so I am doing it as a courtesy. It looks to me as if this merge should be carried out; the Centre is not separately notable. --MelanieN (talk) 03:05, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- Support --Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 04:35, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- On second thought: When I started to carry out the merge, I discovered that there is no mention of this department at the target page. On further searching I could find no evidence that such a department exists. So I am nominating that page for deletion instead. The deletion discussion is here. --MelanieN (talk) 15:51, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Proposed merge from University Business School – Chandigarh
editI propose that the article University Business School – Chandigarh be merged into this article. The business school is a division of the university and is not separately notable IMO. --MelanieN (talk) 03:11, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- Since no one has objected, I will go ahead and carry out the merge. --MelanieN (talk) 00:09, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Panjab University, Chandigarh → Panjab University – As per official name. Not sure why name of city needs to be in the title here. Tow (talk) 04:28, 5 June 2016 (UTC)--Tow (talk) 04:28, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

- Support. I believe it is used to differentiate it from the University of the Punjab. I do however believe that adding the city name isn't necessary. Filpro (talk) 21:10, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
