Varieties section: 'Moenalco River' and 'Nucuini'

edit

From this article:

Northern languages

 • Nucuini / Remo / Rheno - spoken at the sources of the Javari River and on the Moenalco River and Ipixuna River<!--All three rivers on the DAB page are at least partially in Amazonas-->, state of Amazonas.

When trying to fix the DAB for Ipixuna River, in the above, looked up the reference used and found, from the source cited, exactly as it appears:[1]

(Page -178-)

Nucuini or Remo or Rheno - spoken at the sources of the Javari River and on the Moenalco and Ipixuba Rivers, state of Amazonas. [J. B. Carvalho (Braulino de Carvalho) 1931, pp. 254-255; Leuque in Izaquirre 1922- 1929, vol. 13, pp. 538-540; Tastevin ms.n.]

That's no help, and only caused another puzzle - there's no "Moenalco River" anywhere that I can find (archaic name? misspelling? Also, note that "Ipixuna" is spelt, "Ipixuba": Just an alt sp?) So, tried to find its cite, but the only trace of the work that the above source is quoting, so far, is a biographical note on its author:[2]

João Braulino de Carvalho born in São Vicente de Ferrer, on October 16, 1884

Any ideas? 49.177.30.125 (talk) 05:00, 3 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
