editSann, Paul, "Fads, Follies, and Delusions of the American People." Crown Publishers, 1967 an republished later, would probably be a good overall reference for this fad, since the rest of the article is a collection of cites. I could only get access to snips of the book online, but it appears to have several pages on it. The popular culture section needs to be cut back. Edison 18:40, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
i think the page needs more info —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.177.196.78 (talk) 05:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
During the Spring of 1969, male students at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, conducted nightly panty raids during finals week. Some adventurous male students entered girls dorm rooms and forcibly removed panties from the relatively cooperative girls, who feigned mild resistance but easily surrendered their panties. Obviously, some girls were not as cooperative and locked their doors. As the week progressed, excited coeds shopped daily for cheap, brightly-colored, sexy panties at Gibson's, the local discount store, to make sure they had plenty of presentable dainties for the expected raiders each evening. For the participants it was much like Halloween, in that the willing, breathless and excited participants would be waiting nervously in bed, doors unlocked and dressed in their nighties. Unwilling participants would be safely locked in their rooms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.207.49 (talk) 01:21, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

editI removed the reference about Williams form the lede as that story is not really related the rest of the article. If this is a truly notable event, it should be in a separate article and linked to "Panty raid" via a disambiguation link.Wkharrisjr (talk) 21:27, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Inappropriately humorous tone
editI feel like this article has an inappropriately humorous tone. The absence of feminist commentary on panty raiding as a practice feels like an omission of WP:NPOV. Balle010 (talk) 15:42, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
