Proposed move to Park Avenue, Montreal
editIn response to Google hits like this from the Montreal Gazette, This from CBC News (which shows an English headline and the French spelling and this CBC news hit, which has Park with a "K" only as well as WP:ENGLISH & WP:NCGN, I propose to move the article to Park Avenue, Montreal. Keep in mind that Wikipedia guidelines don't say that the English name has to be more widely used than the French, only that it be in common usage, which it clearly is. - I agree with you. The Gazette never calls it Parc, always referred to as Park. We can put a note about it officially being known as avenue du Parc in the opening sentance. MTLskyline (talk) 18:54, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Skeezix has responded also to my query about this matter on my Talk page here. My sense is that things have progressed a lot since the 2005 discussion, thanks to the clarity of guidelines WP:ENGLISH & WP:NCGN. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:43, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I've also noted that I should more succinctly and precisely cite WP:CANSTYLE#French names, rather than the two guidelines cited above. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:00, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
