Wrong translation of palo verde

edit

pechaney (talk) 22:12, 11 August 2012 (UTC) Palo verde is accurately translated as "green tree". Native Spanish speakers routinely use the word palo to mean tree. Palo Alto (the city) could translate as 'high stick' but given the tall redwoods in the area, 'tall tree' is the correct meaning.Reply

I finally edited the first paragraph to reflect this. As an arborist working commonly with native Spanish speakers, the word palo is used interchangeably with the word arbol Saying that palo verde means "green stick or pole" is wrong.
