2006 NSC is definitely happening on the indicated dates at NCSSM, unless something wickedly wrong happens. Sabine01 21:13, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Deletion/merger
editI feel like PACE isn't important in the real world enough as to warrant a page for Wikipedia. Correct me if I am mistaken, but they effectively do nothing but run the NSC and award the Ben Cooper awards.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 06:36, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
- It's runs a national tournament, which gets some coverage the way HSNCT and NAC get coverage. I could be biased here, but I think it should stay. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 06:43, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
"Quizbowl" vs "quiz bowl" debate again
editI think in this article it would be appropriate to use "quizbowl" (as one word), because PACE explicitly uses this form.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 05:04, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- Main article is called "quiz bowl", it's better to at least be consistent when possible. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 07:32, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- I think that's beside the point. PACE describes itself as promoting "the game of high school quizbowl and related scholastic competitions". However the article should note after the first instance of the word used that it's the same as "quiz bowl" or something. I guess compare the use of "soccer" and "football" in England national football team and United States men's national soccer team.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 18:18, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- It's not. Football vs. soccer is not comparable because we're not talking about different cultures using completely different names here, just minor spelling differences. I don't see how PACE deciding to spell it that way matters. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 18:48, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- It's not on a trans-cultural scale here, but usage of "quizbowl" as official spelling shows that PACE is distinct from say some other organizations promoting the same thing.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 23:37, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- The usage of "quizbowl" only shows that they use "quizbowl". I don't see how this spelling can be called "official". In the end, they're talking about "quiz bowl", and since that's what the article is called, that's what we should go with in order to avoid possible confusion.
