Name

edit

Its name is Pashtrik not Paštrik. Could somebody change the name, please? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.139.112.70 (talk) 22:09, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

It seems fairly clear its common name is written English is Pastrik, not Pashtrik, Paštrik, or Паштрик.[1] --Rumping (talk) 17:04, 18 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Moving the page

edit

I believe it is time to change the name - it is a mountain in Albania and Kosovo, both nations lack the letter 'š' which is not present in Albanian. Official Kosovo government websites, as well as tourist companies, all use Pashtrik even when speaking English, and not 'Paštrik' which is used only by a few news outlets on the battle that occurred there back in 1999. The name should be corrected to it's official name as a result. BleronZ (talk) 00:21, 26 July 2021 (UTC) BleronZReply

PaštrikPashtrik – Pashtrik is a mountain ibetween Kosovo and Albania, and the ‘š’ character does not exist in either of those nations; officially, the name ‘Pashtrik’ is used.

Tourist companies/websites as well as academic reports, all in the English language, now utilise this name: - https://alpventurer.com/pashtrik-mountain/ - https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/pashtrik-traverse-2950082 - http://www.palmtreeproduction.com/Hikes%20and%20Climbs/Albania%20Climbs/Pashtrik/Pashtrik%20Gallery.html - https://butterflyoutdoor.com/pashtrik/ - https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282149312_The_Pashtrik_Mountain_a_potential_protected_Landscape_area_Kosovo - http://www.keybiodiversityareas.org/site/factsheet/46565 - https://www.hikr.org/tour/post51479.html - https://geographic.org/geographic_names/name.php?uni=503079&fid=3575&c=kosovo

The Kosovo government also utilisés ‘Pashtrik’: - https://kryeministri-ks.net/en/draft-law-on-forests-approved-while-pashtrik-mountain-and-vermica-lake-announced-a-protected-area-in-the-category-of-nature-park/ - https://www.ammk-rks.net/repository/docs/Raporti_natyra_eng.pdf - https://mzhr.rks-gov.net/desk/inc/media/34EC69C2-E0F8-49EA-B4E7-42D71001F22C.pdf

In addition, signs in the area use the title ‘Pashtrik’. The only time that ‘Paštrik’ is used is in reference to the battles that occurred there during the Kosovo war in a few news reports, which does not represent the current official name that is used - even then, if we were to use that name, ‘Pashtrik’ would be the anglicised version.

Therefore, there is no proper reason as to why we should not change the current title of this article to Pashtrik, which: a) Fails to consider the current official name of the mountain and the area in general used by the government. b) Currenty utilises an unanglicised title not used by the officials or environmental scientists and the like of either Kosovo or Albania. c) Neglects that fact that modern hiking and tourism websites use the name Pashtrik in the English language, and they may confuse tourists and visitors who are researching the area. And also that the page is move protected - not surprisingly. Hopefully this RM will lead to stability. I have left the temporary move protection unchanged. Andrewa (talk) 11:43, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
