editI added the ending to the plot summary. We need some names here, but I don't have a copy with me. 68.49.175.198 22:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC) Sorry, I posted that, forgot to log in. Tigger89 22:12, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I just finished reading this book last night. :) Here is an incomplete list of characters:
- The main character is Joanna Lander.
- The neurologist who performs the RIPT scans is Richard Wright.
- Joanna's best friend, who works in the ER, is Vielle Howard.
- The charlatan researcher is Maurice Mandrake.
- The pathological liar guy is Ed Wojakowski.
- The girl who needs the heart transplant is Maisie Nellis.
- Joanna Lander's English teacher, who has Alzheimer's, is Pat Briarley.
- Mr. Briarley's niece is Kit Gardiner.
- Hope that helps! - carolyn81 (user • talk) 14:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just edited your ending. It is clear that Joanna doesn't remember everything at the end, there is no indication in the story that the ship is actually aware of Joanna and Helen floating on the water, and even as it's likely that they had been spotted (and reasonable to assume that that and the rescue would happen, as it's all in Joanna's dying/dead mind), them being rescued and welcomed aboard is not actually part of the text. - Hi! Can I suggest adding a paragraph break in the first parag under "Plot." So far, it reads: "... exactly the way his books describe NDEs. Dr. Richard Wright, a neurologist who has discovered ..."
- Dr. Wright is important in his own right, no pun intended, and I think it's important to separate him from Mandrake.
- A new reader might think that the two are working along the same lines, whereas they are almost enemies.
- Thoughts?
- Thanks!

Fair use rationale for Image:ConnieWillis Passage.jpg
editImage:ConnieWillis Passage.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
