• The entire first section is unreferenced - and has been since the article was listed as a GA!

• The first section could also do with expansion to contain information that specifically relates to the articles subject matter; the information contained within the last two sentences could do with some exposition to better contextualise the song creation/meaning/ideology/purpsoe.

• "As with every man of noble birth in Renaissance times..." - this needs to be referenced.

• "Henry VIII was expected to master many skills, including fencing, hunting, dancing, writing poetry, singing, and playing and composing music, and was educated accordingly as a prince." - this also needs to be sourced.

The idea of the Renaissance Man should probably be expanded upon here, to make it clear to readers unfamiliar with these times, how the song reflects a cultural trend in Renaissance England. ✽ Juniper§ Liege ^(TALK) 20:29, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

To uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of February 16, 2010, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR. This action has been taken immediately because of the substantial problems afflicting this article. The GA listing, which occured in April 2007, advised that the "Historical context" section required sources; yet 3 years later, no references have been incorporated into the text. It seems, therefore, unlikely that the article will be brought up to GA standard within 7 days. The article has failed GA criteria per the review set out below:

1. It is reasonably well written.

   a (prose):

   • The prose is generally well written and reads easily.

   b (MoS):

   • Conforms to manual of style. Minor issues with overlinking were fixed per WP:OVERLINK.

2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.

   a (references):

   • The article is not well referenced. The first section entirely lacks sources, with other information contained within the article being un-referenced. This has been a problem for 3 years!

   b (citations to reliable sources):

   • Citations are to third party publications.

   c (OR):

   • No evidence of OR.

3. It is broad in its scope.

   a (major aspects):

   • The article is too curt in its dealing with some important contextual information, such as on the idea of the Renaissance Man; additionally, the article could (briefly) address or refer to the general context of music and Henry VIII.

   b (focused):

   • Remains focused. No digressions.

4. It follows the neutral point of view policy:

   • No issues concerning POV evident.

5. It is stable:

   • No edit wars etc.

6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.

   a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales):

   • Images are properly tagged and justified.

   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):

   • Images are accompanied by contextual captions.

7. Overall:
