Patriarchate of Jerusalem → Patriarchate of Jerusalem (disambiguation) – WP:CONSISTENCY with Patriarchate of Antioch (disambiguation), Patriarchate of Alexandria (disambiguation) and Patriarchate of Constantinople (disambiguation) (whereas Patriarchate of Rome doesn't need any disambiguator). As emphasised by Talk:Patriarchate of Antioch (disambiguation). PPEMES (talk) 11:51, 22 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. The page Patriarch of Jerusalem is also a dab page, so the situation is not comparable to the others. Srnec (talk) 12:48, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- Well, shouldn't that be changed, though? PPEMES (talk) 13:48, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
- That would require the creation of an article that does not currently exist. Do that first, then propose a move. Srnec (talk) 04:15, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Actually why does that factor set the perimeter rather than the attached other pages? PPEMES (talk) 18:42, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Because a base name "X" should never redirect to "X (disambiguation)". If the base name is ambiguous it should be the disambiguation page. Srnec (talk) 21:23, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Ok. I'm lost now. Then how do you make sense of Talk:Patriarchate of Antioch (disambiguation)? PPEMES (talk) 21:52, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- There is a substantial article at Patriarch of Antioch that is taken to be the primary topic. Patriarchate of Antioch redirects there. Thus, there is a disambiguation page at Patriarchate of Antioch (disambiguation). I agree that this setup is not the best (although it has a certain logic). The case here is different because while we have pages analogous to the dab pages, we do not have any page analogous to Patriarch of Antioch for Jerusalem. Thus, the dab pages get the base names, since there is no need to put "(disambiguation)" there. Get it? The Antioch situation is like the Constantinople one (where Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople is taken as primary), except that in the case of Antioch it is the ancient undivided see (in essence) that gets primary treatment. Nobody has done that yet for Jerusalem.
Again, I agree this setup is not the best. I disagree that it can be fixed simply by moving stuff around. Srnec (talk) 22:27, 25 August 2019 (UTC)- Well, wouldn't you support for us to logically redirect Patriarchate of Antioch and Patriarchate of Alexandria to Patriarchate of Antioch (disambiguation) and Patriarchate of Alexandria (disambiguation), since they both deal with the "-ates"? PPEMES (talk) 23:07, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- No. That's against Wikipedia policy. If "X" redirects to "X (disambiguation)", then in fact "X (disambiguation)" should just be moved to "X". You tried that. It failed (although I voted support). Srnec (talk) 00:30, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
