Links to disambiguation pages
editI linked to the Tiger Stadium (disambiguation) page on Paul Brown Tiger Stadium, because Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links to disambiguation pages states that "To link to a disambiguation page (instead of a specific meaning), link to the redirect to the disambiguation page that includes the text "(disambiguation)" in the title (such as, America (disambiguation) rather than America). This helps distinguish accidental links to the disambiguation page from intentional ones." Khatru2 (talk) 04:15, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hat notes are an exception to this. The hat note purposely directs users to the disambiguation page. The section you refer to , is meant for links within the article's context. Flibirigit (talk) 04:36, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I believe you are mistaken. I am not disputing that the hat note is supposed to link to the disambiguation page, but that it should contain the "disambiguation" suffix. The purpose of doing this is so that the links sort separately in "What links here". Khatru2 (talk) 04:43, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hat notes link to the disambiguation page. The correct disambiguation page is Tiger Stadium. Not all disambiguation pages have suffixes. Flibirigit (talk) 15:11, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Technically, the hatnotes on "Paul Brown Tiger Stadium" and "Tiger Stadium (West Alabama)" are improper anyway, because a user would not be typing these page names in if they were looking for another page. See Wikipedia:Hatnote#Disambiguating article names that are not ambiguous. In any case, hatnotes are supposed to link to the page with the "disambiguation" suffix regardless of whether or not the disambiguation page itself has a suffix. If the disambiguation page doesn't have the suffix, a redirect page with the suffix is created so that intentional links to the page are identified as such. This does not just apply to the content of the article itself. Khatru2 (talk) 17:06, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
