Early days/university
editThere are conflicting accounts about Butterfield's early days: Wolkin and Keenom write that he focused on the harp early on, but Bishop recalled it came later. Also, Field says he attended the University of Chicago, while Reney identifies University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (but Bishop attended U of C). Until more RS are found, these two points are left —Ojorojo (talk) 16:52, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- Wolkin and Keenom have Bishop (p.36) saying, "I was fooling with a harp at the time, and he was a bit more into guitar. I guess he had started on harp. . . .he gradually switched to harp. Within about 6 months he was almost as good as he was going to get." Wolkin and Keenom also have Butterfield (p. 40) attending the University of Chicago Lab School, which was a high school run by UC. Some of this could be used, even if it conflicts as long as the sources are mentioned, and the discrepancy too. Carptrash (talk) 18:07, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, I see some of it is already there. Carptrash (talk) 18:09, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Category:Deaths by heroin overdose in California
editSince the applicable sources state his death was an "accidental drug overdose", not a "heroin overdose", should this article be removed from Category:Deaths by heroin overdose in California, or is the involvement of heroin enough to remain in it? Fred Gandt · talk · contribs

More than a week has passed with no comments, so I'm removing the article from that category. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs

Family
editButter2345: There have been attempts to add unsourced material about Butterfield's family. Since it is inconsistent, I have removed the third paragraph all together. When reliably sourced material is found, it may be added. A google book search[1] shows one appearance for Gabriel: "Gabriel Butterfield accepted the award for his father" (Ward 2016[2]) but nothing for Lee[3] nor Virginia.[4] —Ojorojo (talk) 13:31, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Bugsy Maugh
editI met Bugsy years ago one time after my Comet broke down in St Joe Missouri.en route home after a Philly Spectrum Dead show. My travelling companion one of a junkyard where I could buy a temporary vehicle as the Comet had overheated and thrown a rod. While at the junk yard a man who said his name was Bugsy Maugh appeared from where he lived next door. We talked..he said that he had played onstage with Paul Butterfield and that he played bass. This was years ago and I have been unable to substantiate that claim. 2601:645:4300:4B00:D05C:6CB9:564A:3DFB (talk) 11:29, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
