Guy Quartermain, in a discussion on your talk page, you told me: friends occasionally ask me to fix their wiki so any changes to bio pages are direct from source then checked by me. You have edited two BLPs thus far and I therefore have to assume that Hutchison is one of your friends who has asked you to edit their Wikipedia bio. This means that you have a conflict of interest and therefore, you cannot edit their page beyond making minor edits (like reverting vandalism or fixing grammar issues). Please make requests for changes to the article's content on this talk page, and provide reliable sources that back up those desired changes. Do not edit the article yourself. Hey Axel, no it was just a turn of phrase ! Sorry you seem to have got the wrong end of the stick...people do occasionally ask me about Wikipedia, so quite interesting to contribute. Paul Hutchison is not a freind. Thanks - and please advise if this is an issue as I will get more involved in the excellent project that is Wikipedia- I use it a lot myself. Hi again - Feels a touch personal ! Perhaps should be passed to a different admin ? Paul Hutchison is not a friend at all and Adrian Hailwood simply someone I know, and his pages have had subsequent edits by someone else that you have now deleted as well...I do want to get this right what is the next step please. The edits I did were perfectly correct and reasonable. Interesting process ! Guy Quartermain (talk) 00:57, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks - slightly different issue - Paul Hutchison I do not know - Adrian Hailwood I do, so perhaps should have been through the admin COI process - though I stand by the edits and there have been other edits not by me subsequently, plus it's rather historic ! Again it was a very casual comment - everyone knows everyone in NZ and you would have zero contributors if this blunt, but I can see how my comment was misread. Have carefully read the COI guff for future edits... Guy Quartermain (talk) 03:06, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Responding to Schwede66's ping. Schwede identified two BLP articles that Guy edited and deduced that the conflict of interest applied to at least one of them. Guy has clarified which one, so they are free to edit the other one within usual Wikipedia policies. If you want to improve the article on Hailwood, Guy, please make an edit request on the talk page of the article, rather than edit it directly. I see no reason to pursue this further.-Gadfium (talk) 03:50, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
