Fair use rationale for Image:Paul walker3.jpg
Image:Paul walker3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
HEY!se go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:01, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Removed "role"
Someone added to his filmography that he was playing Captain America in the 2009 film. There is absolutely no evidence to support this claim. Captain America has not been chosen, I haven't even heard any rumors of Paul Walker being considered. Xprivate eyex 04:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Revision complete...
The revision to the article is complete. I have added and updated references, incorporated new information, and just moved things around so that it sounds less "fan site" and more "encyclopedia". If anyone has any issues with the revision and/or feel that I've missed something important, you can either add it in yourself or discuss it here or on my talk page. If you have a problem with any part of the revision, I would really appreciate feedback so that we can work to improve the article. Ms. Sarita (talk) 10:26, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Apparent death and edit requests
He is dead I have marked all as resolved, and the request is Not done. Walker has not been confirmed as dead by any reliable sources, and so far as I can tell, all stories currently point back to a TMZ report. This is not good enough per WP:BLP. "A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department could not confirm the identities of the two victims nor confirm the cause of the accident.
"Authorities said they responded to the crash at about 3:30 p.m. PT in the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop and found the car engulfed in flames. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s department said the L.A. County Coroner’s Office would determine the victims’ identities and cause of death."
At this time the prudent thing to do is hold for 24 to 48 hours until real confirmation is obtained. The above quote is from the 'proof' link given prior. Until the coronor confirms or Paul Walker himself appears somewhere saying it's a hoax, we really are spinning wheels and wasting edits and energy. So again, I recommend applying the brakes for just a little bit and refrain from letting this turn into an edit war. Medleystudios72 (talk) 03:36, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

- I don't see how the event organizers are any less reliable than his publicist for "confirming" their deaths since technically no coroners report has come out for both. What they do both have are reliable sources willing to say they feel reasonably sure that their sources are accurate enough for reporting. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a BLP violation though. - I'm sorry, but that is not confirmation until it is released by officials or representatives for the subject. The event organizers are not an official verification in any stretch and I generally find such information to be little more than gossip.--Mark Miller (talk) 06:17, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Driver of the car
If it is known, the driver of the car should be specified (in the "Death" section). Was it Rodas or was it Walker? This should be mentioned in the article. Presently, it does not state who the driver was. (I believe I heard that Rodas was the driver.) If left unstated, it could infer that Walker was the driver or that officials don't know who was driving. This needs clarification. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 20:04, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Recent death template
Let's go ahead and leave the recent death template for now. According to this, the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-paul-walker-death-fiery-crash-investigation-20131201,0,7509895.story
The text of the template reads: "Some information, such as the circumstances of the person's death *and surrounding events*, may change as more facts become known." (Emphasis added.) It's fairly certain that the crash was the cause of the death, but the cause of the crash and other surrounding events are not yet completely clear. -Helvetica (talk) 02:06, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Paul Walker's death a hoax
Hate to say it, but even Wikipedia has gotten trapped into declaring Paul Walker's death. It has been revealed that he's alive and well and that he's become the victim of a hoax:
- You misread that story. Mediate is saying that the story claiming Walker's death on 11/29 was a hoax is itself a hoax. Mediamass is a satirical website, and was evidently trying to make a statement about easily people buy what they read in the media. I'd say they succeeded beyond their wildest expectations in this regard. Resolute 03:44, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Fact of the matter reamins that TMZ could be accurate, but we can't say with 100% certainty they are. They're a tabloid service first and foremost. Just because a blind squirrel got a nut, it doesn't mean you can fully rely on them. For hours now, other reliable sources have both cited TMZ as their only source and also admitted that authorities have not confirmed the victims' identities. There's just enough to keep the veracity of TMZ's report in question. They could just as easily be mistaken about anything they report. The more recent updates lead me to believe the story more, but it's still not 100% fool proof. His reps updating his FB and Twitter could even be mistaken. We should exercise some responcibility ourselves and just be patient for a little longer. That's my recommendation. Medleystudios72 (talk) 03:53, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

- This story is still evolving. There are reports that he and his driver might have been drag-racing. If so, that would put a somewhat different twist on it (aside from the common ground, that he's dead either way.) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:51, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Granfather Irish Billy Walker?
The article has long identified his grandfather as boxer Irish Billy Walker. Now JoyRiderProdz (talk · contribs) has linked to the article Billy Walker (boxer). First of all, the source does not name the grandfather. Secondly, Billy Walker (boxer) names his children but does not identify Walker's father (Paul William Walker III) as the son of the boxer. The grandfather's name should be removed entirely. 24.163.36.99 (talk) 00:05, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Death couldn't have been by 'Drag Racing', seeing as there was no drag strip, so that detail is unnecessary in the main profile box. 99.195.161.28 (talk) 00:00, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- You don't need a drag strip to do drag racing. However, there seems to be no current evidence for this being a drag race. I have removed that from the infobox, as it's currently misleading. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:15, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

The coroner has yet to Identify the body of Paul as being one in the car. As such, he should not be announced dead on here until he can be identified. News sources cite the Coroner, stating that the bodies in the car were so badly burned that they had to ask for dental records to ID them, and that the process would take days. http://www.tmz.com/2013/12/01/paul-walker-body-unidentifiable-autopsy/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_S0QnjNSU0
Any thoughts? Ridiculous! There are photos and video of Paul getting into the car that crashed minutes later around 3:30 p.m. PDT.. His family, publicist, and official twitter account confirmed by 6 p.m. PDT, that Paul was the passenger and pronounced dead at the scene.
Catsue (talk) 03:55, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. There's no question who was in the car, and that they're both dead. The coroner just needs to provide a positive ID for each one, as the car was an inferno. And it would be kind of embarrassing to flip-flop and bury the guys under the wrong stones. Hence the ID. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:36, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

It should be noted that smoke started to rise from the car one minute after it hit the tree. Then it took another minute until it started to burn. (can bee seen in the surveillance video). Ich901 (talk) 20:18, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

- In theory, if someone were right there, somehow, they might have been able to pull him from the car and revive. The coroner's report said he died from smoke and flame inhalation. That's the only real significance of it, except for some possible conspiracy theory as you say. Walker lost control of the vehicle or vehicle lost control by itself?
The article reads: the vehicle lost control... Did it really? Or did the driver lose control of the vehicle? And who was driving? Why blame the vehicle? It's either Walker's or the accountant's fault. 186.15.152.217 (talk) 05:50, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- The reports were saying he was a passenger. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:40, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- I assume it's vague because, from what I've read so far, the identity of the driver and the cause of the crash haven't been released yet. Because of that, it's a possibility that the vehicle malfunctioned. We can't accurately say either at this point. TCMemoire (talk) 06:53, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- It could be a combination. That particular car is reportedly very difficult to handle at high speed. So unless it accelerated by itself, Walker's friend (the driver) put them in jeopardy by pushing the speed up to the 80-90 mph range (current estimate) on a city street. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:43, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

On November 30, 2013, at roughly 3:30 PM (PST), Walker and a companion were driving in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California, when the red Porsche sports car they were in swung out of control and crashed into a light pole and tree.[29] The car immediately exploded and burst into flames.[30][31][32] The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department declared two deceased at the scene"

Role Of Porsche Carrera GT In Walker's Death
There is a clear misunderstanding being promulgated in the press about the car Walker was in. Reporting on Wikipedia and other car sources show that the Porsche is one of the fastest-braking cars in the world with better traction than almost any car available at any price. Thus a fatal crash in this car at 45 mph - or really any normal speed limit - is virtually impossible UNLESS the idiots driving it are trying to do something like "drift" a 600 hp racing car. This is something both of these men knew better than to do.
This car isn't "tricky" to drive at normal speeds. Hell, you don't even have to shift it past second gear to go the legal limit.
At any rate, I think Wikipedia is the place to balance the coverage of this truly SENSELESS tragedy Dlawbailey (talk) 05:27, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- 80-90 mph on a city street is not a "normal" speed. Whether the Porsche can handle that or not is another question. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 06:34, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the Porsche could easily handle that speed but not the light post and then the tree. We won't know what happened. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 11:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

"I would like to know, a brief story that Paul Walker (Brandon Collins) played on Y.and R? I can't remember his role on that show.

Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 16:29, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Consider the following fan paragraph found in SoapCentral: "I'll try to write a synopsis of how his role went on Y&R as a little tribute:
"Victor did not approve of his teen age daughter Victoria (Heather Tom) dating an older man, Ryan McNeil (Scott Reeves) so he tried to set her up with a business client's teen aged son she went to school with named Brandon (Paul Walker). She protested saying that he was a geek in school. Low and behold, one night she came home to find her father Victor had a surprise waiting for her: the boy named Brandon he was trying to set her up with. Of course, it was obvious from Brandon's excited look that he had a crush on her so all Vickie could do was to keep from being rude. It was to her horror though to find out that her father Victor had already set up for her and Brandon to go, not just on a date but to prom together. Then Victoria makes plans of her own just to get out from under her father's scoping eye on prom night. She agrees to go with Brandon but has secret plans to see Ryan McNeil instead.
"Later, Vickie makes further secret plans to elope with Ryan somehow getting past the under-age factor and uses Brandon as a decoy in her plan. He thinks she's going out of town to be with him but she only used him to get Victor to approve the trip since he trusted the clean cut kid. Only when they get to the hotel room out of town, Brandon is shocked to find Ryan there and that she plans to marry the guy. Brandon does his best to talk her out of it to no avail ... but Vickie begs the kid not to tell her father. Somehow Victor found out (I can't recall of it was from Brandon or not) and all hell broke loose with Victor having Ryan arrested for marrying his underage daughter.
"I want to say all of that took about the whole Summer to play out and I think after that was the end of Paul Walker as Brandon on the show

Death Section Content
Is this paragraph appropriately located:
Rodas and Walker became friends after meeting at a race track. Rodas became Walker's financial adviser in 2007 and helped to establish Reach Out Worldwide.[41] Rodas was the CEO of Always Evolving, a Valencia high-end vehicle performance shop owned by Walker.
While they were friends, they were friends long before the accident. Their friendship is tangent to the accident, I think it would be more appropriate in a different section. =//= Johnny Squeaky 18:20, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- I reorganized the sentences in the paragraph to separate the events of the accident from Rodas' relationship with Walker. I now see these sentences were moved to the the Personal life section, right above the Death section, which is fine. Anyone who wants to know who Rodas is doesn't have far to look to find out. It has been noted under 'Personal Life' Paul Walker and Jamine Pilchard Gosnell were planning to marry. There is no factual basis behind this/ and no evidence supporting this. Secondly the referencesprovided are dubious sources which do not actually quote any specifc person or event that they had planned to marry, for example Reference number 28 takes you to an article that the author simply writes "some reports stating that the pair had planned to get married." Reference 27, again the author makes numerous statements yet does not actually quote anyone or any event. In fact most reports indicated they were no longer together as there are no recent photographs taken of them together and Paul Walker had attended his brothers recent wedding alone. As there is no facts or reliable sources I believe this statement should be removed.

"Irish"
There seems to be no evidence for his having Irish ancestry. The article states that it is "possible." Anything is "possible". In the archive of the talk page there is a suggestion that he is descended from the "Irish" boxer Billy Walker, who is in fact English. Much as it may pain the Irish brigade not to have a claim on a popular, successful character such as Walker, there appears to be no basis at all for such a claim, so both the reference to his "possible" Irish background and the "Americans of Irish descent" category at the bottom of the page should be deleted. Who are the authorities of information as is accepted consensually
Corruption happens. It exists. It occurs within one or more humans. The ease of which any one or more humans can lie, deceive, or otherwise misappropriate a given situation, gives way to the idea of which organized efforts compromising of several humans acting in a collective effort, can potentially undermine and compromised the integral security of history as is known by a majority of humans.
Courteous of Edward Snowden, it has been fairly consensually realized that Internet security needs to be improved so that it is more difficult for organizations such as the NSA to so easily and cheaply harvest all the information of all the humans. Similarly, there should be improvements to more important structures than the Internet with which misinformation is spread through corrupted organizations and other negligences.
The nature in which Wikipedia declares that Paul Walker is dead offers a sense of authority, but in which the authority is questionably unreliable.
The evolution of organized efforts to apply theatrics to any given situation and to be plausibly accepted by a largely unconcerned society of humans in a maliciously or intentionally corrupted fashion increasingly is rather inexpensive to do. This should not be the case. Just like the NSA should not have such an easy time to monitor all Internet traffic of all humans, no organization or human should have such an easy time to lie or deceive in such a irresponsible fashion.
If I am able to invest vast amounts of money into equipment and organizational efforts to produce the same effects to lie to large quantity of humans and escape any further reality (living life as an assumed dead human) is it well or wise that I do so? DEATH (replace report from People Magazine with the following reflecting coroner's finding including that no drugs or alcohol were involved-)
The coroner’s report stated that the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT may have been traveling at speeds up to 100mph / 160 kph before the crash. The coroner's report further stated that no alcohol or drugs were found in the systems of either man. [3] Cialdarmo (talk) 21:14, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

Ownership of the vehicle.
At the time of the accident the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT did NOT belong to Rodas. "Jim Torp said the red Porsche Carrera GT had already been sold, so they wouldn’t have been reckless with it." http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/paul-walker-dead-driver-roger-2877650
A second source is provided. "The Porsche, along with another car, had already been sold, so the men were not going out to be reckless, he said." http://articles.latimes.com/2013/dec/02/local/la-me-ln-paul-walker-crash-street-racing-20131202
IF the article continues to read that Rodas owned the vehicle, then a citation is needed that show that the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT DID belong to Rodas.

1) Ownership of the vehicle.

Jim Torp said the red Porsche Carrera GT had already been sold, so they wouldn’t have been reckless with it."
http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/paul-walker-dead-driver-roger-2877650
A second source confirms that the car did not belong to Rodas.
"The Porsche, along with another car, had already been sold, so the men were not going out to be reckless, he said." http://articles.latimes.com/2013/dec/02/local/la-me-ln-paul-walker-crash-street-racing-20131202
IF the article continues to read that Rodas owned the vehicle, then a citation is needed that show that the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT - DID belong to Rodas.
2) The article says "The crash was caught on film by a security camera." There is no mention in any of the sources that it was recorded on FILM. That security camera that most likely recorded on a digital video recorder hard drive or videotape. Modern security cameras do not record to film as they once did for bank robberies.

4) Correction/Source required - The sentence "Walker's autopsy showed “scant soot” in his trachea, leading investigators to believe he died before the car caught fire" seems to contradict the statements in e.g., http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/paul-walker-autopsy-report-reveals-actor-horrific-final-moments-article-1.1565527, ".. had “scant soot” in his trachea, suggesting he at least partially inhaled some of the smoke." where, sadly, the latter seems to make more sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.72.41.197 (talk) 18:22, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

New details on deadly crash
- car speed was between 80 and 93 mph
- no mechanical problems with the car
- tires were more than 9 years old
- car did have "an aftermarket exhaust system" to make it go faster
-He also ate a multitude of twinkies before the drive itself, and he was in diabetic shock while he was driving, then he crashed and died. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stolenfromxkcd (talk • contribs) 01:39, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

removal of blurred image.
As per WP:PERTINENCE "Poor-quality images—dark or blurry; showing the subject too small, hidden in clutter, or ambiguous; and so on—should not be used"
the above image is quite obviously blurry. therefore, as per MOS/Images, it doesn't get used.
It's not as if there no other images of him on the article. Better to have two decent images, than two decent images and one piece of shit. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:26, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- And that, of course, is not the size it's displayed at in the article, is it? It's displayed at a much smaller size, like as at the right. At that size, it's a perfectly reasonable image, for the encyclopedia. So maybe I'm wrong and you're rignt - fine, get a concensus to remove it. BMK (talk) 13:31, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
blurred isn't really an opinion. It's a technical fact. The image has visible blur. I'm sure to someone half-blind, browsing on a crappy phone, it looks ok - but to anyone with decent eyesight and a decent display - it looks like a turd. Anyway, MOS was achieved with consensus, I suggest you go there and change MOS if you disagree with their rules. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 13:35, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Error in information
Wikipedia is known for their reliable sources and almost always perfectly accurate information. To help, I wanted to bring to your attention that there is an error in the information given about which movie Paul walker co-stared with Tyrese Gibson. It is found at the end of the section entitled "Personal Life". The article reads as follows: "Walker was close friends with his The Fast and The Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson.[41][42][43]". This is incorrect information. The the movie in which Tyrese Gibson co-stared alongside Paul Walker was entitled 2 Fast 2 Furious. This is the only movie which both of these actors co-stared exclusively playing the two lead roles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BCAE:4AF0:6CCF:FFBB:B9CC:E812 (talk) 04:32, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
The referenced court case regarding the crash is not about the case filed by Paul Walker's daughter. That case is still pending. Missjessica254 (talk) 18:00, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
Thermal trauma or Crash Impact
The sources of the reasons behind his death are conflicting- 1. Walker died from the combined effects of traumatic and thermal trauma, according to the Los Angeles county coroner's office 2. Walker's autopsy showed "scant soot" in his trachea, leading investigators to believe he died before the car was engulfed in fire
Both these are mentioned in the article. The reason can not include "thermal trauma" if he did not survive the impact even before there was any fire to cause the thermal trauma. 77.12.95.0 (talk) 16:18, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
