These have recently been changed. The new BBC source does not appear to support the changes. There is no evidence of him specifically targeting Muslims. Yes, he stabbed a Muslim and planted three bombs near mosques, but the source uses several phrases such as "Later, Lapshyn planted three bombs near three mosques in the West Midlands as part of a campaign he said was motivated by racial hatred", "His motivation was that the white man was better than anyone else", and crucially "When asked why he had targeted the mosque he replied: "Because they are not white - and I am white."". The original source makes the same points, with phrases such as "During his police interviews, the Ukrainian student made no secret of his motive. "Racism," he said. "I would like to increase racial conflict because they are not white and I am white"", "When police officers asked Lapshyn why he had attacked Mr Saleem, the student said: "I have a racial hatred so I have a motivation, a racial motivation and racial hatred"" and "Pavlo Lapshyn was a "calm, calculated and committed" killer, motivated by the hatred of anyone who wasn't white". Pavlo Lapshyn and the sources make it clear that his targets were not Muslims per se, but non-whites who just happened to be Muslims. I can see no statement he has made claiming an anti-Islam motive, only a racial one. I am restoring the original target and motive.DanceHallCrasher (talk) 17:50, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
