Removing image

edit

I am removing this photo of User:Allyn from the article. The image, captioned "Dressed to go out to Peacock Lane", is off topic and does not contribute to the quality of the article. A more suitable image would be one featuring Peacock lane, similar to those here. RP Bravo 00:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am not reverting the edit in the article at this time. Let's see if anyone else has any opinion. I am posting the picture here on the talk page.--Allyn 04:39, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Further, I do plan to take GPL pictures on Peacock Lane next Xmas season and post them here. --Allyn 04:39, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I realise the images on the Peacock Lane site are copyright. I wrote "similar to those here" - I didn't say "copy the photos from here". It would be enhance the article if you took photos of Peacock Lane. However, please have them feature the object of the article, not yourself. I put a link to the picture in question in my comment, it was unnecessary to embed it in this page. Furthermore, as your photo features you not the object of the article, if you put the image back I would consider it vandalism. RP Bravo 05:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am removing the image in question from this talk page, as it violates Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#Self-promotion. Allyn is the designer of the clothes in the photo and requests commissions via his personal web site. I believe the link to the image in my original comment to be sufficient. Anyone interested in debating my decision to remove the photo from the article is able view the photo in context via the article's history, or follow the link above.
